A day at the Denver Zoo.

John had to work for a bit on Labor Day so the kids and I planned to spend the morning at the Zoo. It was such a beautiful day, not too hot and actually a nice breeze. We got there nice and early and you know what the Zoo is a perfect place to go on a Holiday…no field trip groups!

We’ve made many trips to the Zoo so this time we decided to have a little scavenger hunt to make the day a little more entertaining. On the drive in we made our list of categories of animals we needed to find. But oh no that wasn’t challenging enough…we decided that not only did we need to find the animals but we had to capture a decent action shot of each of the animals.

Here is our scavenger hunt list…a sleeping animal (that was an easy one), an animal with horns, the youngest animal, the oldest animal (The hippo Burt who is 57 years old and has been at the Zoo since he was 2), a nocturnal animal, an animal from Argentina (not so easy), an animal eating, an animal from Alaska (in honor of Gov. Palin), an animal swimming and then we each picked our favorites…Rhino (Zach), Crane (Cameron), Lemurs (Ashley) and Otter (Roxanne).

We had a great time marking off the list and pretending to be professional photographers trying to capture the best picture of each animal.

Here are some of our photos from the day…
