The Cookie Man..and Lady.

Every Friday around noon John heads up to the school to have lunch with Cameron and Ashley. He always brings along two Subway kid's meals (turkey bacon subs to be exact) with apples. He also buys six of their huge chocolate chip cookies for Cam and Ash to share with the two friends who are lucky enough to be extended an invitation to sit with them at the special parent lunch table.

Getting picked is definitely one of the highest levels of popularity in the elementary world...it's ranked just below Principal for a Day.

Popularity and special table aside...the kids seriously love those cookies...so much so that they have even nicknamed John "The Cookie Man". When he shows up they all yell "The Cookie Man is here!!" then turn and pounce on our poor kids begging for a coveted spot.

Oh and it's really funny when John runs into one of them at the grocery store shopping with their parents...they'll yell "Hi Cookie Man!" and then try to hug him...it can be pretty awkward for all adults involved.

Anyways...last week I surprised Ashley (Cameron was on a field trip that day) when I showed up at the school...on a Thursday...with a Subway kid's meal in hand. She was so excited to see me but I think that was mostly due to the turkey bacon sub I was carrying. You see it was Thanksgiving Feast Day and I'm sorry but that weird perfect circle of turkey topped with a huge scoop of mashed potatoes drowning in grayish/brown gravy on the other trays looked really gross.

The other kids were actually a little bummed to see me and not their beloved Cookie Man...that was until I produced a small white paper bag containing 3 chocolate chip cookies. At that moment I officially became known as "The Cookie Lady" and further cemented the popularity status of my children...hey whatever it takes right?

Oh and just because he's so cool...they call Zach "The Cookie Dude".
Ashley and the chosen ones...Bridget and Nikki.

Proof I'm a bad mom.

If you can get past me hysterically laughing at Cameron's misfortune of throwing snow in his own face, you will hear the sympathy and concern in John's voice...what a nice dad...mom on the other hand, not so much.

Sorry but it was pretty dang funny.

Snowy Sunday.

The weekend storm brought us a foot of snow so John built the kids their own personal sledding hill in our front yard. Cameron and Ashley were outside pretty much all day on Sunday going up and down their hill about a million times. What an awesome daddy.
Zach spent almost the entire day in shorts playing basketball at the Rec Center with his friends and I stayed nice and warm in my jammies watching football by the fire with my cute puppies. What a great snowy Sunday.

It's Basketball Time

No I'm not talking NBA time...which BTW is pretty much all you can find on the TVs in our house these days. GO NUGGETS and CELTICS oh and anyone who is playing the Lakers!

No it's not March Madness just yet...which is another very interesting time in our home. GO TEXAS!

It's GOLD CROWN basketball time!!
(If you didn't know it's a pretty big deal here in Colorado)

Zachary will be playing on the ThunderRidge High School feeder basketball team.

Their first practice is tonight, they will be playing 2 pre-season tournaments in Nov and Dec and will be playing in 2 leagues from Dec 5th thru Feb 28th (with three games every weekend). We added it up and Zach will play over 50 games in the next 3 and a half months...not including his three 2 hour practices every week...WOW!
Zach is SOOOO excited...actually we all are, we love going to his games but John by far is over the moon!

Oh and have I mentioned that Zach is now offically 5'9"!

Love it!!!!

I've got Christmas on the brain.

My head is just swimming with things like...
(our livingroom, December 2007)

Is it too early to start shopping?

Should we get a 'real' tree this year?

Can we really pull off a more simple Christmas?

Photocard or folded card with a loose photo inside?

Neighbor gifts...usual baked goods or something different?

Any ideas for thoughtful teacher gifts...instead of just gift cards?

Yikes...Zach has 7 teachers...do you give teacher gifts in Middle School?

I wonder what Ms. Lily will look like after her first pre-Christmas grooming?

Would it be crazy if I put my tree up this weekend because I want my livingroom to look like that picture up there?

WOW the text looks a little

like a Christmas tree and I

didn't even mean to do that!
