Birthday Getaway

John and I headed up to Blackhawk for a little getaway to celebrate our birthdays (yikes we're 35!!).
We stayed at the Ameristar Hotel and Spa..it was by far the most beautiful hotel we've ever stayed in (we don't get out much). The lobby was fantastic, the roof-top pool and hot tub were super cool, even the casino blew us away with how nicely it was decorated.  It was so classy and way better than our impression of Las Vegas.
The best part was our room...oh my goodness it was so nice and the bathroom was AMAZING!  It's was huge and had a deep garden tub and separate shower...so nice.  We were way up on the 26th floor and had the most gorgeous view out our window.  It was truly a top notch hotel from decor, to service, to the food...it was just the perfect spot to spend a wonderful weekend with my sweetheart.

The view out our window in the morning, stunning.
John and I had the best weekend we've had in a very long time...we really needed this getaway and we agree it was the best birthdays ever for both of us because we spent every minute of it falling in love with each other all over again, no joke.  We were giddy like newlyweds the whole time and probably making everyone around us sick. We came away from it stronger than ever and feeling so blessed with the wonderful life we share and the amazing family we are grateful to call our own.
I'm one very happy girl and he is one very lucky man.
The only problem was that the hotel was full of these crazy fun house mirrors that John and I kept calling thin mirrors because we both looked way thinner in them...ha ha actually both of us have been getting in shape a bit these days and this was the first time either of us really noticed how much we've changed (but that's bound to happen in a hotel full of mirrors).  We still have some more working out to do...well mainly me because I think John already looks amazing but personally we're both looking pretty dang good these days and all the smiling doesn't hurt either.

Oh and we stayed out visiting all the casinos and playing our favorite Gold Fish slot machines until 3:00am...that was a first for us but oh we had so much fun.
My biggest single win of the weekend $50.13

Summer 2010 Recap

It's back to school week...which means summer is coming to an end.
Here what we've been up too...

Lots and lots of Summer League basketball for Zach.
7 tournaments...that's at least 35 games!
Zach played very well throughout the summer and had excellent coaching and was able to really improve his overall game.
The TRidge boys took first place in two tournaments, 3rd place twice and 4th place this last weekend.

Ashley finished up her EAGLES gymnastic season on a high note by taking 6th place all-around at State.
She took a much needed week off after State but was back at it with an additional practice night (she's now up to 9 hours a week!), getting ready for her USAG season which starts in early September and goes right through December.

Cameron has his sights set on making the swim team this year and has been taking swim lessons to get ready for tryouts.
He's loving it and so far this sport really seems to match his personality...plus he's such a fish!

John is very happy with his big move over to Big Lots.
We LOVE that place.
He's enjoying the lighter hourly schedule while he can before getting his own store.

A few other fun summer events worth mentioning:
Steamboat gymnastics trip with Nawnie
Our new kitty Rondo
WinterPark / Grand Lake fishing trip
Rockies Games!
Hanging at the pool...a lot!
Going to Eliches...(Zach went at least 15 times with Trevor)
Colorado Springs basketball tournament weekend

and a sad yet happy moment for all...
Wishing good luck to Navy Airman Trevor Robles who is currently away in bootcamp.
We are all SO proud.
