Real Cup and Last Soccer Game

Last weekend Zach's soccer team participated in the Real Cup. We had a few weather delays but managed to get in all 4 games. They ended with a tournament record of 1 win, 2 loses and 1 tie and took 3rd in their bracket.

Last night was Zach's last league soccer game for the spring season. They won 3-0 with Zach scoring the first 2 goals. The team ended the season with a record of 3 wins and 7 loses. Their record doesn't reflex how well they played against a majority of the top teams in the U12 Classic Division. Zach played outside mid-field for most of the season but was switched to a forward for the last 3 games and the Real Cup. It was a well fought season with many games coming right down to the last second. They ended up placing 8th out of 12 teams. Today he has tryouts and then we have a summer full of camps for both soccer and basketball.

It was raining buckets as we arrived at DCHS at 8:00 am, the track was wet and so were we. It was looking like the much anticipated Hex event was going to be cancelled. By 10:00 the rain had stopped and the races had begun. By 11:00 the sun was out and shining...and we ended up with a beautiful day!

3rd Grade Country Fair

One of the highlights of being a 3rd grader is getting to participate in the County Fair.

The students team up in groups of 3 and learn all about a country. They do research, write reports, collect pictures and even cook a dish from their country.

Maddy, Cameron and Elias had the Country of Australia.

They did a great job on their presentation and they had some really cool facts that I had never heard before. Plus the Anzac Biscuits Cameron and I made have now become a new family favorite.
The kids did a fantastic job on the musical portion of the night and the costumes were amazing!!

The Dominators

Real Colorado U8 Girls - The Dominators Ashley's soccer team the Dominators had a very successful season ending with a record of 6 wins 1 loss and 1 tie. These girls are amazing and continue having fun each time they step on the field. #22 Ashley (Smashley) in action.

Look at those moves! She wowed the crown and earned $5 from her coach for doing a scissor move during a game.

Three on One!

She may be the smallest player on the team but she's one of the toughest. Look at that determination!

Ashley was the goalie for 4 games this season and only let in 2 goals.

A truly perfect Mother's Day.

Beautiful flowers from Zach and John, a bracelet a picture and a poem from Ashley, a cute card from Cameron, a yummy breakfast made by my boys (Ashley wasn’t feeling well), a clean kitchen, a trip to Home Depot, a day spent in the yard with my hubby tripling the size of my flowerbeds, Zach’s team winning two basketball games, a lovely dinner out with my funny little family, ending the evening chatting around the fire pit. It was a good day.

Oh and John gave me the best gift ever…he signed us up with a bi-monthly cleaning service.

Firey Fire Pit of Fire

Over spring break we tore apart and then rebuilt our backyard deck. It's so nice now and we've been spending a lot of time hanging out back there. It's still a little chilly at night and John has wanted a fire pit for some time now but has always been very picky about which one to get.

After a lot of searching we finally found the perfect one...it's a big ceramic pot and it looks really nice on the new deck.

John is so happy and he has been lighting it up at 8:15 almost every night...even during the week.

Our neighbors have been over for smores and hot dogs and we love just chilling (actually warming) around the fire. John says it's better than watching basketball...well unless the Nuggets are playing!

...oh and we like pretending we're evil Wizards gathered around our cauldron of fire, casting spells.

Dirt Devils

This last weekend marked the end of Spring soccer for Cameron and Ashley.

It was a crazy season with a lot of cancellations due to bad weather and make up games almost every Sunday.

Cameron's team celebrated with donuts and trophies complete with spinning soccer balls.

This season the boys were moved up into a higher bracket and played very well against some really good teams. Cameron was voted most improved player and had a fantastic season as a defender. They ended with a record of 3 wins and 5 losses.

Look what we saw...

It was the middle of the day and as we were driving through our neighborhood we saw this racoon just casually walk across the street right in front of us. He squeezed his big behind down in the drain, then we all played a game of peak-a-boo while I tried to get it's picture.

Douglas County School District Art Show

Zach's watercolor portrait of Yao Ming was selected to be displayed at Park Meadows Mall for the annual Douglas County School District Art Show.

He was quite surprised that his artwork on human body proportions was selected, since Yao's proportions are not exactly 'normal'. We especially like Yao's very muscular arms.

Soccer, basketball, all A's, advanced classes, saxophone, recently made the school hexathalon team, babysits his brother and sister, expert Rockband guitarist...

What can't this boy do?

...oh I know he can't seem to get his dirty clothes into the hamper.

We are so proud of this young man...we love you Zach!

Easter Morning 09

The Easter Bunny was good to us this year...lots of goodies!
