After the hike, I snuck off into the camper for a short rest, Courtney and Minda disappeared into their tent for little cat nap and John well he just passed out in one of the camp chairs. The kids however happily played card games and gameboys until they woke the adults up….1 hour later (it’s a good thing we have very responsible kids). After our 'little' naps we left the park for a quick scenic drive to the historic town of Central City to visit the Old Sweet Shop for some delicious ice cream to cool us off. After a long fun day we again spent the night sitting around the campfire chatting and making smores.
Courtney was our master wood cutter and fire builder who kept us warm with his gigantic campfires.
Ashley and Chico made a new friend with a fellow 6 year old camper from Aurora named Katlynn. Cameron managed to skin all of his knees and elbows after 4 falls, twice while riding his scooter, once while chasing a squirrel through the campsite and once during the hike on a hill now known as 'Death Hill'. Zachary lost his war with a menacing squirrel that was a frequent visitor to our campsite, but he vowed to track him down next time we visit, which after this great trip should be very soon!
